Little Babysitter

Avery and I babysat Ella tonight and Avery was so great with her. She helped feed her and told me when she had a dirty diaper. Avery loves Ella very much. It is so fun to spend time with both of them.

Breckenridge

We had a great vacation in Breckenridge this last week. Aaron, Brenna, Ella, Dad, Sharrell, Dustin, Rachel, Avery and I all stayed in a cabin on the slopes of Breckenridge for 5 days. It was my first time to ski and although I spent most my time falling down, I loved it. Dustin also took Avery and skiied her down a green mountain. He skiied her right between his legs and she loved it. She would pass me by and say "Bye Bye Mama." I loved it. I also fell at the end of the hill and could not get up and Avery loved that as well. I wasn't for sure that she was going to have fun since spent the first 20 minutes complaining as we walked up the hill that her legs were tired and it was cold outside. She wanted to go down again, but Dustin's shoulder was hurting so we stopped where we were at.

I loved Breckenridge and I loved skiing! What a blast. I skiied down a fairly hard blue and it was so exhilirating. The town of Breckenridge is also really cute and I loved the atmosphere in the ski lodge. I can't wait to go again.

So sick!

Poor Avery was so sick this week. She was up almost all night on Monday night, throwing up, tossing and turning and crying. Wow, it is a really tough job being a mom sometimes. I took her to the doctor and she was really good at the Doctor. We went and got her medicine and she cried the whole through Target. We then had to go to my work so I could finish some urgent projects. Avery was so cute. She sat right beside me and fell asleep with her head on my desk. When she woke up the medicine had started to kick in and talked my ear off. Too cute! Everyone around us was laughing at her. When we went home, Avery said "Can we go back tomorrow, that was fun". I think she liked all the attention, the candy, sitting next to me and getting loved on.

A Pet?

I am considering getting a pet although I am not 100% decided. I am more partial to dogs although I am not sure that would be a good idea. I travel for work some and I also like the flexibility of not having to go home directly from work if I don't want to. Avery wants us to get a cat. In fact, she asked me to ask our friend Charlie if we could have his cat TwoButts. lol. I told her that he wouldn't want to give up his kitty. We would have to find our own. She didn't seem to like that as much. he he. I haven't really decided what to do and I told her we would have to wait until the end of the year to decide.

Great Day

Avery and I had a great day yesterday. We layed on the couch and watched movies and ate popcorn. We colored in her coloring book and we played with Moon Sand (similar to Playdoh). At the end of the day, she hugged me and said "Your the bestest Mommy". It was the best day!

Writing her name!

About two months ago, Avery learned how to write her name. Now, she is writing both her first and last name. I am so proud of her. She also told me on the way to school that she wants to be a teacher when she grows up.

Avery turns 4!

Avery's birthday party was great! We had it at Chuck E Cheese right by our apartment on her actual birthday. She had such a good time and I did too! Admittedly, it was a little stressful containing 14 or so little ones and opening presents, trying to make sure Avery had fun and enjoying her party. Her attendees were: Lily (her best friend), Peyton, Ally, Kevin, Genevieve, Trinity, Mason, Evan, JJ, Jackson, Logan and Macy. Aaron, Alex, Ella, Brenna, Mom and several of my friends made it as well.

On a Rocket Ship...In Africa

My mom has been staying with me for the last several weeks and the other night I was in the bathroom and my mom asked Avery where I was at. Avery told her "On a rocketship" "On her way to Africa" How freaking funny is that? :)

First Field Trip

I went with Avery on her first field trip on Tuesday, October 28. It was so cute. We went to the Pumpkin Patch. Avery had to ride in the car with me versus riding on the bus because she was not yet four and she was so disappointed. She cried the whole 2 minute ride there. :) We had such a good time and it was fun to be around all those little ones. It made me want to have another child. I am sure I will someday.

Hush Up!

The other day when I went to pick Avery up from school, I asked her....How was your day? She said "Good...but my friends talked so much they hurt my ears. So, I told them Hush Up....Hush Up." As she said Hush Up, she also put her hand out like someone would when saying Stop. It was so cute!

Give me a break

The other day I was not feeling well and I was running late. I must have told Avery to hurry about 50 times and blew out my breath in exhaustion. We were in the car and she turns to me and says "Give me a break....You are being so fussy with me." Too funny! I said "I'm not being fussy." I immediately get a "Yes, you were" and I realize....yes, I was.

I put two pictures I found of Avery when she was about 15 months old on my desk. One of them was taken with my Aunt who passed away shortly after the picture was taken. I put it there to remind that life passes quickly. I just need to enjoy my time with her and my family while I have it.

Is that your big ole face?

So, the other day I picked Avery up from her dad and she was in the car seat in the back. She said "Mom, your my best friend." "Wow, thanks Avery. You are my best friend too." She then proceeds to tell me that she is gonna draw your picture. She starts to draw then stops and says "Do you have a big face" "Yes, Avery I have a big face" So she draws a big circle and says "Does that look like your big ole face?" "Why, yes it does." LOL.

Will you tickle my back?

I am amazed how much Avery loves to have her back tickled. That is 100% from me! I love that too and I still try to climb into my mom's lap to have my back tickled whenever possible. Amazing how much we both love that. I will sometimes ask her to tickle my back after I am done with hers. I'm lucky if I get 5 seconds. Lol.

Your my best friend...

We went to bed last night with a major meltdown because Avery flat out refused to get into bed until she had watched one more Spongebob. After lots of arguing...and Avery crying and flopping around on the floor....I deleted all the Spongebob's on the DVR. Man, she was pissed. She kept going after that so went back to the TV to delete all the Lilo and Stitches and Dora the Explorer. I didn't end up having to delete those. She finally got into bed.

Sometimes I wonder what Avery dreams about. This morning the very first words to me were "Your my best friend." Wow, that brings tears to my eyes now just thinking about that. What a fantastic way to wake up in the morning especially given the night before that we had.

Don't worry Mommy...

As I was laying in bed with Avery this morning, I reminded her that she was going to her dad's. I told I don't want her to go and that I miss her when I am not with her. She tells me "Don't worry mom, I'll come back!" She was exasperated with me. I love that personality in her.

One thing else that she says that I love is "Your driving me crazy. " She did unfortunately pick that up from me....I need to watch that...but when she says it to me, I smile and laugh.

What do you want to do?

The other night as Avery and I were in the living room, I started asking her about the extra activities at her school and what she would like to sign up for. She already does the Flip Bus which does gymnastic type activities with them. She turns around and says ...."Um, I'd like to do soccer, stretch and grow and computers". I laughed and told her to pick one. She said she'd like to sign up for computers....so that is what we are going to do. She also said "Thank you for signing me up for Flips Bus". She is so warm. Her personality is absolutely loving! I love it.

My little love, my little spitfire

Last night I took Avery to Chili's and we met up with girlfriend Chanda. I had the whole "let's put our manner on" talk with Avery prior to going in. She was of course, "yes, I gonna be good". :) She started putting her feet on the table about a few minutes into dinner. I told her several times not to do it....feet on the table again. So, we went to the bathroom and got a spanking. We came back and she decided to test me again and again so finally we went to the car and I put her in car and I stood outside for a few minutes. Chanda ended up eating dinner basically by herself. Avery is so strong willed and I am hoping and praying that part of it is just her age although I think it is just Avery. I hope that I can be a good mom to her and that in her life she uses that strong will in a good direction. I love her so very much and I want her to grow up to be well adjusted, warm person. :)

Avery Grace goes to the Movies - Kung Fu Panda

Avery is getting so big! For the last several days Avery and I have been walking around and bursting out loudly saying "Kung Fu Panda" with one arm held high in the air. This was all in preparation for our first movie together and her first movie ever. We had an absolutely fantastic time. I had to tell her several times to sit down and be quiet (and of course threaten at least 20 times to leave) but overall she did great. She had to go to the bathroom twice and about a third of the way through looked at me and said "I'm hungry". So, of course, we went to the concession stand and I bought us a small popcorn. I loaded it with butter. I figured what the heck, it's her first movie, let's go out in style. She ate some...looked at me in wonder and said "This is good". As I look back at the moment. What I now think is....No, life is good....(well, and I yeah, I admit it, the popcorn was good too! :-)
